European EDM Festival

Europe is probably the most popular destination for EDM fans throughout the world. There are some amazing festivals taking place in Europe, from main stage headliners like Tiesto and David Guetta to underground legends such as Armin Van Buuren.

We selected our favorites in no particular order.

1) Tomorrowland, the biggest EDM festival in the world (Belgium)

Where:

Tomorrowland is an annual electronic music festival held in Boom, Belgium, it will take place at Recreation area De Schorre.

The event has been held annually since 2005 and it is one of the most popular festivals on earth with around 400 000 visitors in the last two editions 2018/2019 before the pandemic.

The main stage is located near a huge Ferris wheel where you can find many amazing light shows and fireworks effects. This year there will be three weekends.

After so many years, this festival is still an unbeatable EDM event

The Tomorrowland festival has become one of Belgium’s most important cultural events and it attracts crowds from all over Europe. Thousands of people come every year to dance in front of the stage and enjoy their favorite DJs for three days in a row.

2) Ultra Europe (Croatia)

Park Mladeži

Split, Croatia

Ultra Europe is a three-day event that draws in the world’s top EDM DJs and features some of the most intricate stage designs around. This event is perfect for those who love electronic dance music and want to see some of the biggest names in the industry perform live. Ultra Europe is also known for its excellent production value, so attendees can expect an immersive experience that is truly unrivaled.

3) Untold Festival (Romania)

Where:

Cluj-Napoca Romania

The Untold Festival is an annual music festival that takes place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The first edition took place on May 22 and 23 of 2015, featuring headliners such as Martin Garrix, Avicii, Armin van Buuren, and Afrojack.

The 2015 European Youth Capital of Cluj-Napoca was an important event for the city.

It put Cluj on the map as a new tourist destination and brought some money into the local economy, but it also attracted criticism from some who argued that it would negatively affect local culture.

Cluj Arena is a multi-purpose stadium in Cluj, Romania. It serves as the home of Universitatea Cluj football club and was completed on 1 October 2011. It is also the home of the Untold Festival. The facility is owned by the county council of Cluj

4) EDC Portugal (Portugal)

Where:

Praia da Rocha, Portimão, (Portugal)

EDC Portugal will be replaced by Secret Project 2022 first edition.

Secret Project 2022 will take place in the same locations as EDC Portugal 2022 and on the same dates.

They cannot deliver the full EDC experience this June because of logistical issues.

They would like to thank all of their fans for their patience and wish them a safe and enjoyable time while on-site.

In conclusion, they are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. They hope that you understand their decision and accept sincere apologies.

While we are disappointed, we are also excited about Secret Project 2022 will be one of the world’s best house, techno, & bass lineups. This will still take place on the same dates, and at the same beachside venue as Portugal.

5)Airbeat One Festival (Germany)

Where:

Flugplatz Neustadt-Glewe, Germany

It is a small city of 7000 people that once a year became very big. There is a lake next to the glider airport and a castle as well.

Plenty of space to place your tent. The Airbeat One Festival is a five-day music festival that takes place at the Airfield Neustadt-Glewe. In addition to the music performances, the festival also includes a variety of other activities, including dance workshops, a food court, and a merchandise area.

6) Balaton Sound (Hungary)

Where:

ZAMÁRDI, LAGO BALATON -Hungary

Zamárdi is a small town in the Southern part of Hungary near Salgótarján and Lake Balaton. Zamárdi had become one of the hottest music destinations among travelers around Europe due to its good connections with neighboring countries, festivals, and good prices.

7) BBF: Barcelona Beach Festival (Spain)

Where:

Platia de Forum- Barcelona (Spain)

The Barcelona Beach Festival is an electronic music festival held annually in Platja del Forum, Barcelona.

The festival celebrates music from a range of electronic genres, including techno, house, and trance. The event also features a variety of other attractions, such as fireworks displays and beach parties.

The Barcelona Beach Festival is one of the largest electronic music festivals in Europe, and it regularly draws tens of thousands of attendees from around the globe.

8) AMF: Amsterdam Music Festival (Netherland)

Where:

Johan Cruyff Arena – Amsterdam

This is an indoor EDM festival, in fact, it will take place inside one of the most famous stadiums in Holland.

It is only one night but is one of the biggest Amsterdam dance events, and you have to wait all year long.

9) Sziget Festival (Hungary)

Where:

Budapest – Hungary

The Sziget Festival takes place over 8 days in August every year.

This year it’s taking place from 10-15 August on the Hungarian island of Óbudai, near Budapest. Lasting for almost a week, and with an average attendance of 400,000 people each year, this is the biggest music festival in Hungary and one of Europe’s most popular festivals.

Since 1993 there have been no other European festival that can rival its size or appeal to such a wide audience.

The lineup always includes mainstream artists alongside more alternative acts covering pop, rock, indie, and dance music genres.

Recent headliners have included Kendrick Lamar (2017), Foo Fighters (2016), The Black Keys (2015), Coldplay (2014) Eminem (2013), and Muse(2012). There are also many different themed stages at the festival such as ‘World Music Stage’, ‘Fashion Stage’ or ‘Central Dance Arena’.

10) SAGA Festival (Romania)

National Arena, Bucharest

SAGA Festival is an annual 3-day event held in Bucharest, Romania. SAGA Festival was first arranged in 2005 as a community festival by the “Romanian Youth Hostels Association”. Since then it has become one of the biggest events of its kind attracting over 30 000 people every year. SAGA stands for Small Alternative Global Arts and consists of two parts: The Main Stage which hosts traditional music performances (usually on Thursday) and The Open Air stage – at Piața Unirii Square – where bands play all kinds of music; rock, metal, electronic, EDM, etc…

11) Creamfields (England)

Daresbury/Cheshire – England

Creamfields was voted Best Big Festival at the International Dance Music Awards in 2013, 2015 & 2016.

Creamfields is an annual electronic dance music festival that takes place during the August Bank Holiday (last weekend of August) in Daresbury, Cheshire, England.

Creamfields has a capacity of 80 000 people per day, making it one of the biggest EDM festivals in Europe with some stages dedicated to house, trance & techno while others are more diverse with genres such as drum & bass, grime, and hip hop.

Creamfields is a dance music festival that takes place around the world, with events in Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia. The British event has hosted some of the biggest DJs including Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, and Avicii. Creamfields will return to Britain on 25-28 August 2022 at Daresbury Estate in Cheshire for Creamfields 2022; now it’s time to get excited!

A must-go is something that everybody needs to do. In some cases it can be a place where you have to go and cannot miss, for example, in this case, every avid techno party-goer wants to go to Creamfields as the headliners are Insomniac Events (organizers of Electronic Daisy Carnival).

12)Wireless Festival (England)

Where:

Crystal Palace /Finsbury Park – London // Birmingham

Wireless Festival is a British music festival. The event has been running since 2005 and takes place across two sites in London (Finsbury Park) and Birmingham (Moseley Park).

The first Wireless was held over the July 4th weekend in Hyde Park, London with headline acts of Jay-Z and Mary J Blige. Since then, it has grown to include an additional site at Birmingham’s Perry Park. In 2010, UK artists accounted for around half of all tickets sold but this decreased to 25% by 2018. Despite the name ‘Wireless’, no wireless devices are allowed into the venue

13) Sonus Festival

Where:

Pag Island – Croatia

Sonus Festival is a festival that lasts five days and nights in four open-air clubs delivering a world-class caliber of artists and unbeatable programming under the sun.

Sonus has curated its lineup with care so that every night will showcase different concepts while remaining the same high standard we’ve been accustomed to from Sonus events. It’s going to be another amazing edition for those who are making their way over to Croatia this July!

In addition to showcasing some of the finest techno talents out there today at this event on Croatian shores, it also holds a special place under the sun.

The only thing that could make this festival better would be if it were closer to home! A popular destination for travelers from all over the globe, Sonus sets itself apart with its incredible music lineup and exquisite locations.

Expect some amazing sights as well since Pag Island, is known to have one of the best beaches around.

14) Melt – Most Unique Electro Festivals (Germany)

Where:

Ferropolis – Germany

For the second year in a row, Melt is all set to take over one of Germany’s most unique locations; Ferropolis. Ferropolis is a mining museum located in eastern Germany and it features various monuments made out of excavated waste from a nearby coal mine. The three-day festival will be held at this location which includes an open-air arena that has been built for the sole purpose of hosting music festivals like Melt.

The annual event takes place during the second weekend of June (the closest Saturday and Sunday to 10 June) and features artists from a range of electronic genres including techno, electro-clash, minimal techno, and breakbeat.

15) Dance Valley -Netherland

Where:

recreational area Spaarnwoude, Velsen-Zuid, the Netherlands.

Dance Valley is one of the largest open-air dance festivals in Europe, attracting over 150,000 people each year. It is located in the Velsen-Zuid neighborhood of Rotterdam and features a wide range of music styles including electronic dance music, indie rock, hip-hop, pop as well as local and international acts.

Dance Valley was founded by The Dance Valley Organisation (a not-for-profit organization) in order to give young people from the city an opportunity to take part in something that they would normally only be able to watch on TV – live open-air concerts! Since its inception over 10 years ago, it has grown into one of Europe’s largest open-air festivals.

The festival attracts around 50 different nationalities with more than 60% being from Europe alone.
